I blogged last year about the making of the Poison & Wine EP - see posts to refer back to that article. From a production standpoint what continues to make this recording unusual is that it contains performances by the duo, that is, it is a recording of Joy Williams and John Paul singing together while playing the acoustic guitar and sometimes the piano.  So in that regard it is a return to an older production style and a departure from cutting a track and putting the vocals on somewhere near the end of the process.  

We are all thrilled that people are responding to a recording of people in a room making music together. Not music and lyrics that they're just getting to know, but music they've rehearsed, know, and love.  

This project has inspired me like few others.  I hope it does you too.

For the record, literally: Joy Williams and John Paul White (vocals) with JPW on acoustic, electric guitars and resonator guitar, Joy on the Hohner organ, piano, and celeste, Tim Lauer supported with more keys. Barry Bales on acoustic bass, Jerry McPherson on electric guitars, J.T.
